We have a dream...“Oh, that you would rend the heavens and come down” WE HAVE A DREAM in Kansas City of hundreds of pastors and intercessors on their knees, arm in arm, shoulder to shoulder crying out to God for revival and spiritual awakening. Among these leaders and intercessors are Blacks and Whites, Hispanics and Asians, Native Indians and Middle-Easterners...from every tribe and tongue. There is no distinction of race and love is abounding. There are more spontaneous prayer gatherings around the city than can possibly be numbered. WE HAVE A DREAM in our metropolitan region of a city without suburbs and a church without boundaries. There are no denominational walls, no competition, no ambition, and no jealousy. There are hundreds of pastors who see themselves as one unified body in pursuit of Christ’s highest purpose for our city and there are tremendous partnerships of church planting, compassion to the poor and sending of missionaries to the nations. WE HAVE A DREAM of a great historic visitation of the presence of God descending on the extraordinary united prayers of Kansas City in transforming revival and awakening, and changing the atmosphere of the entire region. The Holy Spirit is moving powerfully in every sphere of society. In high schools students are full of the Spirit and witnessing in every hallway. Teens are on their knees in front of lockers and beside desks giving their lives to Jesus. There is an unprecedented spiritual awakening among youth and many thousands are streaming into the Kingdom in full devotion to Jesus. An entire new generation of radical Christ-centered leaders is emerging. WE HAVE A DREAM of churches full to capacity everywhere and people are waiting outside for a turn to come inside. The Word of God is alive and active and powerful. The Spirit is bringing full conviction, repentance and the joy of full devotion to Jesus. The music and singing is like an open heaven and the prevailing word is “indescribable!” WE HAVE A DREAM of people everywhere being healed of cancer and every disease. Broken hearts are being mended and mighty miracles are occurring in every gathering. Marriages and devastated relationships are being healed. WE HAVE A DREAM of young children picking up microphones and praying in the power of the Spirit of Christ and leading hundreds to come to Jesus and prophesying of the coming days of the Kingdom of God. WE HAVE A DREAM of a call to prayer and fasting in Arrowhead Stadium. Pastors are inviting their entire congregations. Business leaders are closing down shop and sending all employees to pray. Schools are closing down for the day and there is a spirit of celebration and a resounding united voice arising: “O God, Come to our city!” WE HAVE A DREAM of money flowing in the Kingdom of God like a river. Billions of dollars are being given into the hands of humble broken men and women and then distributed to eliminate poverty and hunger in order to bring great restoration to the broken and the lost. WE HAVE A DREAM of taverns and jails closing down. There are no customers, no crime, and no business. The police and judges are out of work. The influence of God is reaching into every sphere of our culture. WE HAVE A DREAM of every man, woman and child growing into deep intimacy with Jesus Christ and experiencing perfect love and unity with one another. Jesus is famous in the land. The air is so full of God and eternity that people are pulling off the road in their cars and crying out to God. Others are kneeling beside office desks and beside assembly lines unashamedly getting their hearts right with God. WE HAVE A DREAM of reporters and historians coming to Kansas City and finding there are no great leaders on pedestals in this revival…Only humble and broken saints who give all the glory to God. WE HAVE A DREAM…..and all of the above is only a precursor to that Something greater that is in the heart of our Father. WE HAVE A DREAM…. © The Citywide Prayer Movement of Kansas City (Permission to copy) If you can use this dream in its entirety or in part in any way whatsoever to advance God’s highest purposes and bless His Church, please do so wisely and honestly, giving all the glory to God. The above dream was inspired by a speech given by Dr. Martin Luther King in Washington, D.C. August 28, 1963, and is composed of snapshots of documented historical stories of past revivals and awakenings around the world in Timor - Indonesia, Hebrides, Wales, India, the Northern Province of China, New England, Azusa Street, and many other transforming revivals currently underway in non-Western world churches and regions such as Almalonga Guatemala, Fiji Islands, Uganda and over 500 others….
